The College Success Habits Podcast
Education:Self-Improvement
Ep #28 - In this week's episode we discuss going home for Thanksgiving, and soon Christmas, and how to best handle, cope, and thrive with the emotions that present themselves during this loving, yet often stressful, time of the year.
You have changed, grown, learned new things - and this can butt heads with the "old way" that awaits you back home. It is imperative that you both: share what you have learned and understand those back home have not experienced what you have over the last semester, year, etc.
Do you want to be right, or do you want to connect? How you discuss your new ideas, behaviors, beliefs, values, and attitudes will speak volumes on how growth-minded you truly are and your willingness to meet your relatives and friends where they are at in their lives.
You have been attending and living in a place of upward movement and (hopefully) growth-minded and open-minded people. This has not changed the people back home, nor has it changed the environment you came from. How you present yourself to them will go far in how easily they can adjust and learn from this "new you."
